The Brandywine is the largest river in Delaware.
It is a jewel as is Delaware a jewel, which is why it is called the diamond state. A famous battle was fought along it during the revolution, called of course, “the battle of the Brandywine.” In summer, rafters float down it, and fishermen are seen. This view of an apple branch was taken just below Brandywine State Park, and just above one of the gentle rapids that break the course of the Brandywine.
